What brings you joy in life? And how often are you making time for it?
We live stressful lives where we often loose perspective on what really matters to us. Our society requires certain things of us, makes certain rules for us, and we have to conform, at least in some ways, in order to survive. But at the end of the day, we each have to make some important decisions, or we'll risk spending our lives living by accident, or in a state of auto-pilot.
The things that light us up, fill our souls, warm our hearts, are the things we'll remember the most, and the legacy we'll leave. If we're so busy that we loose sight of those things, we risk loosing sight of ourselves and our loved ones. Not only is this sad, it's also less healthy. Numerous studies have shown the health benefits of joy, laughter, connection, and purpose. With these things we are more resilient, we live longer, and we have a greater overall sense of peace and fulfillment.
Micro-cultures around the world, such as those found in the Blue Zones, are great examples of people living their best lives. They can serve as both inspiration and a template for making changes to help each of us on the journey towards finding our own joyful, soul inspired best life.
